Although it had its challenges, 2006 was one of the best years yet for The Animal Care Society. The shelter touched many families with blessings in furry feet – over 900 dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens were placed in new homes – many of them beloved pets that could no longer be kept by their owners. Donations were also well above those received in 2005 enabling us to make many much needed changes around the shelter. And while more is always needed, our furry “guests” never go without toys, treats, and soft, warm bedding - the extra touches that make shelter life a little more bearable. Our membership continued to grow providing the ongoing support needed to continue our mission of providing displaced pets a deserving second chance. The year’s fundraising events enjoyed tremendous success and not only brought in much-needed funds but also gave the shelter and its mission additional exposure. Animal Care also entered into supportive relationships with several businesses in the area: Barkbusters has offered to provide valuable training advice to ACS; Crescent Hill Publishing generously donates a percentage of the sales of their “I’m Just a Cat Mattress” book to ACS; and Derby Pet Fence sends a much-appreciated donation to ACS every time the new owner of an ACS dog or puppy uses their services to install invisible fencing (the owner also gets a discount). We said a sad goodbye to a long-time employee but welcomed two new part-time employees, both of whom have fit right in with the ACS family and are doing a wonderful job. Our volunteer numbers remain strong but there is always more work than people so if you have a few extra hours a week, we’d love to welcome you into our volunteer family! Yes, 2006 was a very good year and we can’t wait to see what 2007 has in store for us! Thank you for supporting us in the past and we hope we can count on your continued support in the futureLouisville, Kentuckyhttp://www.animalcaresociety.org/Bakery SquareLocated at the southwest corner of Washington Street and Webster Street, Historic Bakery Square offers office space that combines the charm and convenience of Butchertown with the latest in technology and security.Louisville, Kentuckyhttp://www.bakerysquare.com/Belle of LouisvilleSteamboat Belle of Louisville and Riverboat Spirit of Jefferson Cruises and Events on the Ohio River - Louisville Dinner Cruises, Louisville Weddings, Louisville Charters, Louisville Attractions; The Belle of Louisville and Spirit of Jefferson are two the most unique and enjoyable tourist attractions in Louisville, Kentucky.
