This was a record year for the Fair, with attendance records broken every day. There was over 6,000 total in attendance, and we are already making plans for next year.
On Friday night, just prior to the Dizney Rodeo, Bell County Judge Executive Bill Kelley made an announcement that certainly pleased the crowd, and especially the members of the Fair Board who were on hand. He announced that the property, on which the Fair has been held the last 4 years and 5 of the last 9, would become the permanent site. An agreement has been reached with Donnie King, the property owner, for the County to purchase the land for the specific purpose of hosting events like the Bell County Fair. Mr. King has been a supporter of the Fair, and has graciously allowed the Fair the use of the land while talks were going on concerning its’ purchase.
Winchell Wilder, president of the Fair Board, stated, “Now, we can provide our visitors more amenities like a graveled parking lot. I am also looking forward to having permanent structures here for the shows like the rodeo, goat show, and a bandstand for the entertainment. This has been tremendous news for the Bell County Fair.”
Some of the highlights of this year’s Fair include: Magician Greg Farmer performed for four nights, the Jeff Treece Band brought their original Gospel music mixed with clean humor, the Wild World of Animals Show was here every day and proved to be a crowd favorite, and of course, the Dizney Rodeo was back and provided lots of action for the large crowd of people who attended each night.
But that was not all, there was the ATV Drag Race, the Demolition Derby, the Truck and Tractor Pull, lots of musical entertainment, and more. This year’s Open Boer Goat Show was well attended, with entries from Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee.
Plans are already underway for the 10th anniversary of the Bell County Fair. Completely run by volunteers, the Fair Board is constantly looking for new members with fresh ideas to help improve the Fair.
